Picture yourself outside, standing next to a beautiful waterfall, the birds are singing and
the wind is
rustling the leafy trees. How do you feel?
Odds are good you feel wonderful.
We are much more conscious about how our environment affects us in nature: cloudy or sunny days, warmth or cold, ocean or beach — each can have a dramatic effect on our moods.
As I came to appreciate the beneficial effects that a balanced environment can have on my mood and energy level, I began to study and practice the principles of Feng Shui.
The Basics of Feng Shui
Contained within Feng Shui are principles and “elements” that represent every area of your life: money, health, relationships, creativity, family, career, reputation, travel, and wisdom / knowledge. Organizing your surroundings to support each area is so good for your soul.
Using Feng Shui in the LOVE Corner
Here’s an example in my life. I came to a place in my life when I was ready for a relationship. I’d balanced my energy, done a lot of clearing, and decided I wanted to nurture “couple-ship” in my space using Feng Shui.
In my house, the relationship corner happened to be my bedroom, so I cleared half of my closet, put up nicer curtains, moved in a second bedside table, de-cluttered drawers, and put pairs of things around the room.
Generally, I made the room feel more romantic and nurturing. I’d been traveling like crazy and decided I’d actually *be* home so I was more settled.
Within the same week, I attracted a relationship that I was really excited about.
The 5 Elements of Feng Shui
Feng Shui incorporates elements in nature–fire, earth, metal, water, wood–and their companion colors to help support and balance your environment. The five elements have broad ramifications – they correspond to the body’s organs, seasons, moods, states of mind.
Understanding the balance of the five elements and how they might relate to your particular experience can be beneficial to creating more balance and harmony in your own life.
